Due to excise tax evasion, people involved in the scheme caused damage to the state for more than 12 million hryvnias.
Employees of the Chernihiv border detachment together with detectives of the main division of the BEB of Ukraine exposed the illegal production of diesel fuel. On March 23, the State Border Service reported.
During the investigation of illegal fraud with excisable goods, it was established that the diesel surrogate was illegally produced at an oil refining company located on the border of the Chernihiv region.
“The officials of the enterprise organized a large-scale production of low-quality gasoline obtained by adding various solvents to petroleum products. To avoid paying taxes, the manufactured products are distributed to other regions of Ukraine as raw materials and sold for cash through a network of illegal gas stations,” the report said.
It is noted that only because of excise tax evasion, the defendants in the scheme caused damage to the state for more than 12 million hryvnias.
Law enforcement officers conducted authorized searches at five places of accumulation and sale of counterfeit fuel. Force support for these measures was provided by soldiers of the 10th mobile border detachment.
During the searches, more than 1,000 tons of diesel fuel were seized, samples of which were sent for analysis. They also confiscated other things that could help bring the illegal activities of people involved in the scheme: computer equipment, documentation.
The defendants face three to five years in prison.
