An international investigation team will visit Ukraine for an investigation next week.
International Criminal Court investigators will arrive in Ukraine to investigate war crimes, said International Criminal Court prosecutor Karim Khan.
According to him, the International Criminal Court has entered into an agreement on cooperation with a joint investigation team formed by Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine.
“Next week, 42 investigators will leave for Ukraine. This is the largest departure my institution has made,” Karim Khan said.
At the same time, he noted that the institution does not take any of the sides – either Ukraine or Russia – first of all, it is necessary to investigate all the facts and establish the truth.
The expert is sure that the Russians can not shirk responsibility. Not a single war crime will be forgiven them.
“The most important thing is that the investigation should be reliable, honest and independent, so that the judge can make a decision. I am very pleased to cooperate with the Ukrainian authorities,” he said.
Khan noted that the International Criminal Court will be able to access the shared documents.
The prosecutor also noted that among those coming to Ukraine, including 30 specialists from the Netherlands, were forensic experts and analysts.
Note that the work of the Court may be complicated by the fact that Russia has not ratified the Rome Statute. Therefore, he is not obliged to cooperate with the criminal court.
Every Ukrainian can help collect information about war crimes in Russia on special platforms:
Warcrimes.gov.ua (Office of the Prosecutor General);
Russiancrime.org (NGO OPORA).
On the sites, you can provide photos and videos from the scene, written and oral testimony of the victims, as well as material testimony.
Earlier, the first trial of the Russian occupier began in Ukraine.
