In France, at the air bases of Mont-de-Marsan and Nancy, about 30 Ukrainian pilots have been undergoing accelerated training on Mirage 2000 fighter-bombers for more than a month and a half.
This is reported by the French edition of Le Figaro.
The corresponding decision was made before the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Paris on February 8.
Thus, France joins the United States, which also trains Ukrainian pilots on the F-16, the newspaper notes.
Paris does not exclude the supply of ten fighter jets developed by Dassault Aviation to the Ukrainian army if “a political decision is made.”
Dassault Mirage 2000 is a multi-role fighter developed in the 70s of the XX century. It was the main combat aircraft of the French Air Force in the late XX – early XXI century.
The last Mirage 2000 was made in 2007. Its replacement in the French Air Force is the Dassault Rafale multirole fighter, which entered service in 2006.
In total, more than 600 Mirage 2000s were built, this aircraft was in service with nine countries.
