In the Khmelnitsky region, the SBU exposed a pro-Kremlin bot farm, more than 2,000 bots of which “dispersed” disinformation about the situation at the front, urged Ukrainians to evade mobilization and engaged in discrediting the military-political leadership and units of the Defense Forces
This was reported by the press center of the SBU.
According to operational information, the main “customers of services” of the bot farm were representatives of the special services of the aggressor country, the SBU emphasizes. “They bought fake accounts and used them on popular social networks supposedly on behalf of ordinary Ukrainians.
It is noted that by carrying out information sabotage, the aggressor tried to undermine the internal political situation in the western regions of Ukraine.
Illegal activity was organized by a resident of Kamenetz-Podolsky, a former policeman, the report says. – He placed the hardware and software complex for growing bots in his own apartment in one of the sleeping areas of the city.
According to the intelligence service, such specialized equipment allowed the attacker to register hundreds of anonymous accounts daily. He received payment for the “rent” of fake accounts through Russian electronic payment systems.
During searches at his address, the following was found:
- red-handed computer equipment;
- hundreds of SIM-cards of mobile operators;
- specialized hardware and software
The withdrawn equipment is sent for examination. They plan to inform the attacker of suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 361 of the Criminal Code (unauthorized intervention in the operation of electronic computers (computers), automated systems, computer networks or telecommunication networks).
The investigation continues to establish all the circumstances and bring the perpetrators to justice.
