Brazil says it is ready to arrest Putin

The country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs said that Brazil respects and follows the decisions of the ICC.

Brazil will comply with the International Criminal Court’s decision on an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin if he visits the country. This is what Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira said, Tio reports.

Asked if Putin could be arrested if he came to Brazil, the official said: “Anyone who travels to an ICC member country can have problems, I have no doubt about it.”

The Foreign Minister emphasized that Brazil respects and follows the decisions of the ICC.

Vieira also recalled that Brazil condemned the entire Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Brazil is a signatory to the Rome Statute. Currently, 123 countries have ratified the law.

As you know, on March 17, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Children’s Ombudsman Maria Lvovo-Belova. They are suspected of involvement in the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children.

German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann said he would execute a warrant for Putin’s arrest if he ever set foot on German soil.
