The IMF team reached an agreement in Kiev at the staff level. The final decision must be approved by the IMF Executive Board.
Representatives of the IMF and Ukraine reached a staff-level agreement on the approval of the Extended Financing Program (EFF) in the amount of more than $15 billion. This is stated in the official statement of the International Monetary Fund.
“The IMF team reached a staff-level agreement with the Ukrainian authorities on a four-year program with IMF support in the amount of 11.6 billion SDR (approximately $15.6 billion), or 577% of Ukraine’s quota ,” the Fund notes.
At the same time, it was specified that the final decision must be approved by the IMF Executive Board. A board meeting on this issue is expected in the coming weeks.
The Fund noted that the agreement reflects its consistent commitment to support Ukraine. The new package is expected to help mobilize massive concessional funding from international donors and government partners throughout the life of the program.
Recall that the IMF has approved changes to the Fund’s financial guarantees policy and will now approve a new loan program for Ukraine.
