Ursula Von der Leyen stressed that EU support helps Ukraine work, defend itself and puts Ukraine on the path to EU membership by supporting reforms.
The funds are provided on unprecedented favorable terms for Ukraine and will be used to finance the most urgent state budget expenditures.
Since the beginning of 2023, the total volume of direct budgetary assistance from the EU reaches 4.5 billion euros. The next tranches under the large-scale program of macro-financial assistance, Ukraine will receive during 2023, subject to the fulfillment by Ukraine of the conditions agreed by the parties.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the European Union has provided Ukraine with 11.7 billion euros of macro-financial assistance.
On December 13, 2022, all EU countries supported the provision of 18 billion euros in assistance to Ukraine. Previously, this decision was blocked by Hungary. But now she has lifted her veto in exchange for the unfreezing of part of the money assigned to her from the European Union.
The United States also plans to continue large-scale humanitarian and budgetary support for Ukraine in the face of its confrontation in the war unleashed in Russia, and expects to transfer $7.4 billion to the Ukrainian side. help until September.
