China and Russia are getting closer in the military field, Jens Stoltenberg had to admit.
There are indications that Russia is asking China to provide lethal aid for the war in Ukraine. This is what NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on press conferences in Brussels on Tuesday 21 March.
“We have not found any evidence that China is providing lethal weapons to Russia, but we have seen some indications that there is such a request from Russia, and that the Chinese authorities are considering this issue in Beijing ,” said the NATO Secretary General.
Stoltenberg warned China against giving Russia lethal aid, which, according to the general secretary, means “support for an illegal war.”
“We see how China and Russia are getting closer in the military field – joint exercises, joint sea and air patrols, in the economic field, as well as in the political and diplomatic field. So the meeting in Moscow (Xi) Jinping and Vladimir Putin – Ed.) is part of this trend in which China and Russia are working closer and forming a stronger and stronger partnership,” he said.
Earlier, the media reported that since the start of the war in Ukraine, the Russian aggressors have received drones and spare parts for them worth $12 million from China.
The US State Department has also warned China about the consequences of transferring arms to Russia.
