The Parliament passed a bill allowing the granting of officer ranks in the military without higher education, but with experience.

Officer ranks can now be granted to military personnel with combat experience but no higher military education. This is stated in draft law No. 8339, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

For the bill On Amendments to Article 20 of the Law of Ukraine Regarding military duty and military service 283 representatives of the people voted.

Ukraine needs high-quality officer cadres, which can be sergeants and senior officers who are in military service and have combat experience, the explanation notes.

However, Article 20 of the Law of Ukraine specifies that the condition for granting the main military rank of officers and accepting military service under a contract is successful completion of training at a higher military educational institution .

So the Rada allowed for the period of martial law to accept for military service under a contract and give the rank of major officer to fighters without higher military education, but with combat experience. To this end, the military must perform military service in the combat zone for at least 6 months.

It is also allowed to accept for military service under a contract as military officers from 20 to 40 years old.

It should be noted that it was previously reported that Ukraine spends almost the entire budget on the army. At the same time, the entire social and humanitarian component is financed with the support of Western partners.
