People’s deputies in the second reading on March 20 adopted bill No. 8339. It will allow the assignment of officer ranks to defenders who have not yet received higher education, but who have combat experience.

The Verkhovna Rada generally adopted the law “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on the Improvement of Certain Issues in the Performance of Military Duty and Military Service” No. 8339.

The law improves the definition of the ratio of military ranks of sergeants.

In particular, the law provides for the provision of officer ranks to those defenders who did not have time to get a higher education, but have relevant combat experience, the explanatory note to the document says.

A test will be introduced when accepting for military service under a contract. The law also establishes new terms for military service under a contract from 1 to 10 years by eliminating the provision for a six-month period.
