The court of Ukraine gave 15 years in prison with confiscation of property to the self-proclaimed mayor of the occupied Berdyansk Alexander Saulenko. According to the SBU, he voluntarily began working for the Russian invaders from the very beginning of the invasion and has been doing this ever since.
The mayor of Melitopol Ivan Fedorov also reported that the Zaporozhye court sentenced the Russian Gauleiter Saulenko to 15 years in prison.
According to Fedorov, the future traitor was a little-known entrepreneur without a bright political career. However, by the time of the Russian invasion, he was already a member of the pro-Russian party “Union of Left Forces” and traveled to the Russian Federation.
After a full-scale invasion, the occupiers, not finding anyone else, put him on foot from the “occupation authorities” in Berdyansk. Gauleiter was marked by the failure of the pseudo-referendum and the export of Ukrainian grain through the Berdyansk port to Russia, Fedorov said about the convicted collaborator.
The SBU said that after the occupation of the Muscovites of Berdyansk, Saulenko entered the inner circle of another traitor, Saldo, who further contributed to his appointment as the head of the occupation body.
In this position, Saulenko fulfilled Moscow’s tasks regarding the transfer of local enterprises to the owners of Russian monopolies and the transfer of the city’s economy to the needs of the aggressor country.
Also, the collaborator actively participated in organizing a fake referendum and holding “ceremonial” events for the so-called “Day of Russia” in the temporarily occupied territory of the Berdyansk region.
In addition, Saulenko signed the so-called “cooperation agreement with the government of the Tver region.”
Based on the evidence collected by the SBU, the court found the enemy henchman guilty under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 Art. 111 (high treason);
- Part 5 Art. 111-1 (collaboration activity).
