Many countries, many politicians expect Ukraine to make some progress on the front this year, Pavel noted.
Ukraine should use the possibility of a frontal counter-offensive this year, because it is very difficult to get help from allies for a new attempt in the future. This was announced on Sunday, March 19, by the President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel in an interview with the Polish edition of Rzeczpospolita.
“Many countries, many politicians expect some progress this year. I think Ukraine will only have one attempt to launch a major counter-offensive. So if it decides to launch a major counter -offensive and will fail, it will be very difficult to get funding for the next,” – said the head of the Czech Republic.
The Czech leader noted that the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine should take place within a few months.
“The window of opportunity is open this year. It will be very difficult to maintain the current level of assistance after next winter,” Pavel stressed.
“War fatigue is not only the depletion of human resources and equipment, the destruction of infrastructure in Ukraine, but also the fatigue of aid-giving countries,” Pavel added.
A medical volunteer from the Czech Republic received a shrapnel wound from shelling by the Russian army in the Donbass.
Czech President Petr Pavel will visit Ukraine in April.
