Leonid Brezhnev will be deprived of the title of “Honorary Citizen of Kyiv”.
The corresponding draft decision was published on the website of the Kyiv City Council.
The deprivation of the title “Honorary Citizen of the City of Kiev” L. I. Brezhnev will contribute to the elimination of the legacy of the former communist totalitarian regime, to exclude the possibility of creating a positive image of persons holding leadership positions in the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, the Communist Party of Ukraine, the communist parties of Ukraine in the city of Kiev from the state method terror in government, characteristic of the communist totalitarian regime, the restoration of historical and social justice, the project says.
In Kamenskoye, representatives of public organizations and local residents are demanding the demolition of a monument to former Soviet General Secretary Brezhnev.
His bust, according to the law on decommunization, must be dismantled. The local authorities decided to make it a museum exhibit, but left it on the central square of the city.
