Military trucks will receive Ukraine from the Ministry of Defense of Belgium.
The Belgian Defense Ministry intends to transfer 240 military trucks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These are Volvo Cargo, Shelter, Fassi and Manumat models – cargo models, models with an awning or a crane, as well as some tow trucks. The first batch of cars will go to Ukraine next week. This is reported by the publication De Standaard.
The fleet of the Belgian Armed Forces has 400 trucks of the Volvo family. In 2023, the Belgian army will refuse cars. And instead of just gradually taking the trucks out of service, they are being sent to Ukraine.
Often the emphasis is on the supply of weapons, but Ukrainian units are also very much looking forward to these trucks. During a conflict, logistics is at least as important as weapons, the Belgian Defense Ministry said.
The vehicles that will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been in operation since the 1990s, but a few months ago the Belgians began to check and repair them. The military is convinced that the equipment handed over to the Ukrainians is in good condition. All instructions and spare parts that were in stock are also included in the delivery.
Recall that in January Belgium announced a record package of military assistance to Ukraine for 90 million euros. The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles for NASAMS, launchers for Mistral air defense systems, small arms and ammunition for them.
