Today, throughout the laws of Moldova, the phrase “Moldovan language” has been replaced by the words “Romanian language”.
The Parliament of Moldova finally approved changing the name of the state language from Moldovan to Romanian. 58 deputies voted in favor, according to Newsmaker on Thursday, March 16.
After the vote, representatives from the pro-government Action and Solidarity Party faction stood up, shouting “Bravo”. “Congratulations. It’s a bit late for this vote,” said Igor Grosu, parliament speaker.
Today, throughout the laws of Moldova, the phrase “Moldovan language” has been replaced by the words “Romanian language”. This also applies to the words “state”, “official” and “indigenous” languages. In addition, the text “worked on the basis of the Latin script”, which was considered obsolete, was not included in the Constitution.
Within 30 days from the date of entry into force of the law, the public authorities with the ability to adopt, approve or issue normative acts inferior to the law will make the necessary changes.
Recall that on March 2, the Moldovan Parliament approved the law on the state language in the first reading. But then came the vote with a scandal.
Earlier, the Moldovan Parliament condemned Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The representatives adopted a declaration in which they called on the Russian Federation to immediately stop hostilities in the neighboring country.
