The ships carry 670 thousand tons of various cargoes, including grain, and about 230 crew members.

Since the beginning of the war, more than fifty ships with crews and various cargoes have remained blocked in Ukrainian ports. This was reported on March 16 by the Interfax-Ukraine agency with reference to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration (USPA).

It was noted that most of the ships are in the ports of the Nikolaev region.

According to the USPA, on March 14, 51 ships with about 670 thousand tons of various cargoes, including grains, and about 230 crew members were blocked in Ukrainian ports .

In the ports of the Mykolaiv region, 30 ships were intercepted, of which eight had more than 165 thousand tons of agricultural products.

“The Ukrainian side has repeatedly stressed the need to expand Black Sea Grain Initiative with the inclusion of the ports of the Nikolaev region. This will significantly increase the volume of Ukrainian food exports to the needy countries of the world,” stressed the Sea Ports Administration.

It was previously reported that the grain deal between Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and the UN needs to be extended, as it expires on March 18. However, the parties are continuing negotiations due to the position of the Russian Federation.
