Tallinn is in favor of a revision of the price ceiling for Russian crude oil and a ban on the sale of tankers.
Estonia has petitioned for the introduction of a new package of EU sanctions against the Russian Federation, aimed at reducing revenues through energy supplies. This is what the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Urmas Reinsalu said in a press conference on March 16.
“We are in favor of changing the” ceiling “of crude oil prices, significantly reducing it. Every cent, every dollar of reduction leads to a significant decrease in Russian income, in billions throughout the year,” he stressed.
According to the Foreign Minister, the EU should also take steps to reduce Russia’s ability to export crude oil by sea.

In addition, to prevent evasion of the restriction, Estonia intends to propose to the EU to ban the transit of sanctioned goods.
Earlier it was reported that the authorities of Poland, Latvia and Lithuania called on the European Union to lower the ceiling on the price of oil from Russia to $51.45 per barrel.
It will be recalled that on December 5, 2022, the EU ban on the import of oil from the Russian Federation by sea was implemented. In addition, more than 30 countries around the world have set a price ceiling for oil from Russia at $60 per barrel.
