In recent days, a noticeable decrease in the number of attacks on Bakhmut has been recorded. The invaders lost their offensive potential due to the huge loss of manpower and equipment.
The pace of the Russian offensive has slowed down compared to previous weeks. Now the Armed Forces of Ukraine have the opportunity to continue the initiative at the front. This is stated in the summary of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) for March 15.
It also cited a statement by the spokesman of the Joint Press Center of the Defense Forces of the Tauride direction, Alexei Dmitrashkovsky, who said that the number of attacks on Russian soil per day decreased from 90-100 to 20-30. Dmitrashkovsky explained that the invaders lost their offensive potential due to huge losses in manpower and equipment.
“The Russian offensive in the Lugansk region is approaching a climax, if it has not yet been reached, despite the fact that Moscow has deployed the majority of units, consisting of at least three divisions, on the line of Svatovo-Kremennaya,” the report. said.
ISW points out that over the past week, the Russians have achieved little tactical success in the Luhansk region. At the same time, the Ukrainians were able to carry out counterattacks and regain some territories in the region.
Specialists also emphasize that in the past few days a noticeable decrease in the number of attacks in and around Bakhmut has been recorded.
“The founder of PMC Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, recently complained that due to the lack of ammunition and heavy fighting, the siege of the city had to be extended,” said the Institute for the Study of War.
Analysts suggest that the offensive of the Russian invaders in Bakhmut is nearing its climax.
“The Russians are not active or successful offensive operations in other sectors of the front, and as the pace slows, the Ukrainian forces have more opportunities to continue the initiative,” – added in the report.
Earlier, the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that six warehouses of the Russian Federation were destroyed in the direction of Bakhmut.
And the General Staff noted that the Ukrainian military repelled the attacks of the Russian aggressors in five directions and inflicted serious losses on them.
