The Second Western District Military Court of the Russian Federation sentenced Kirill Butylin to 13 years in prison, who was found guilty of setting fire to a military enlistment office in Lukhovitsy near Moscow in February 2022. This was reported on March 15 by the TASS agency.
According to the indictment, on February 24 last year, Butylin took part in an uncoordinated mass event in Moscow, after which he “developed a criminal plan” and chose to build a joint military registration and enlistment office of the city of Zaraysk and Lukhovitsy , Moscow Region, for crime.
“After that, the accused bought three aerosol cans, acetone, motor oil, kerosene, 0.5-liter bottles, and scrap in the store. On February 28, in Lukhovitsy, he made two bottles of incendiary mixture, went to the registration of military and enlistment office building, at the entrance of which he painted the flag of Ukraine, after which he broke the windows and threw bottles there,” the court said.
After that, according to the investigation, Butylin went to Belarus, and on March 9 he posted a video of arson on the Telegram channel. Later, he was detained by border guards while trying to cross the border into Lithuania.
It was noted that the man was found guilty under three articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: vandalism (part 2 of article 214), public call for terrorist activities (part 2 of article 205.2) and a terrorist act (paragraph ” c ” of part 2 of art. 205).
It was emphasized that this is the first case of arson of a military registration and enlistment office since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.
It was previously reported that a local court sentenced a participant in the arson of a military enlistment office in Gukovo, Rostov region of the Russian Federation, to four years in a penal colony.
