The storm also damaged the electricity supply in Malawi, with extended blackouts in most parts of the country.

The news service recalled that on Sunday, March 12, the typhoon hit Mozambique, but it was difficult to determine the extent of the damage and the death toll, as electricity and telephone communications were cut in some parts of the country.
So far, 20 victims of bad weather are known.
According to the World Meteorological Organization, Storm Freddy is the strongest tropical cyclone on record and possibly the longest.
