Ukraine has asked Finland to hand over four Allegro trains that used to run between Helsinki and Russian St. Petersburg. On Tuesday, March 14, STT was reported.
Former Ukrzaliznytsia CEO Oleksandr Kamyshin is said to have personally discussed the issue with Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin during her visit to Kyiv.

Allegro trains are owned by Oy Karelian Trains Ltd, founded in 2006 and owned by VR and Russian Railways.
Trains used to run between Helsinki and St. Petersburg since December 2010. The movement was stopped in March 2022 due to a large-scale invasion in Ukraine. Allegro trains are stored in Helsinki. It is noted that they are suitable for railways of Ukraine.
Allegro trains are manufactured in Italy by Alstom under the Sm6 brand, have a top speed of up to 220 km/h and consist of seven cars.
