The President of the UAE has died

The cause of death of 73-year-old Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan was not disclosed. The country has declared 40 days of mourning.

The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, died on Friday, May 13, at the age of 74, The Emirates News Agency WAM reports.

The cause of death was not disclosed.

The Ministry of Presidential Affairs said that from now on the UAE will continue a forty -day state of mourning, the flags will be flown at half -mast.

All ministries and departments, federal, local and private organizations will suspend their work for three days.

According to Arab News, Sheikh Khalifa became the second president of the UAE in November 2004, succeeding his father as the 16th leader of Abu Dhabi.

Recall that on May 10, at the age of 89, after a long illness, the First President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk died. And a week before that, the first leader of independent Belarus, Stanislav Shushkevich, had died.
