Japan has banned the export of high-tech equipment to Russia

The prohibited list includes 3D printers and quantum computing equipment, including quantum computers.

Japan has expanded the list of products and technologies banned for export to Russia in connection with the unleashed war against Ukraine. This was announced on Friday, May 13, by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.

The ban has already been approved by the country’s government and will take effect on May 20. Prohibited from selling in Russia:

  • quantum computers and other similar devices, as well as spare parts for them;

  • microscope;

  • modeling equipment (3D printers) and metal powders used for it;

  • equipment for the manufacture of organic light-emitting diodes;

  • equipment for the manufacture of microelectromechanical systems;

  • equipment for producing hydrogen fuel;

  • vacuum pumps;

  • cooling equipment designed for very low temperatures, as well as its components;

  • numerical control devices for machine tools;

  • polymer.

The other day, it was reported that Japan had cooled the assets of Alfa-Bank and Sberbank. In addition, Tokyo has banned individuals and companies from making new investments in Russia.

In addition, Japan has agreed to an oil embargo against Russia. Although Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida called the decision “difficult”.
