The city of Bakhmut is still holding out, and the most fierce battles continue in this direction.
Less than a week later, in the Bakhmut direction, the Russian army lost more than 1,100 soldiers killed and 1,500 wounded. More than 10 warehouses with enemy ammunition were also destroyed. On March 12, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated this in an evening address published on the Facebook page of the head of state.
In less than one week – since March 6 – and only in one Bakhmut direction, more than 1,100 enemy soldiers were destroyed – these are irretrievable losses for Russia, losses right there, near Bakhmut. Plus, at least another 1.5 thousand sanitary enemy losses are injuries that are incompatible for them with the continuation of the fighting. Plus, dozens of enemy vehicles were destroyed. Plus burned Russian ammunition depots – more than 10, – said the Ukrainian leader.
Recall, on March 11, British intelligence reported that over the past four days, the forces of the private military company Wagner had taken control of most of the eastern part of the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region. The Bakhmutka River in the city center now marks the front line. Units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces maintain control of the western part of the city and have destroyed key bridges across the river.
Colonel General Alexander Syrsky stated that “it is necessary to gain time for the accumulation of reserves and the start of the spring counteroffensive, which is just around the corner.”
