Ukrainian authorities want to discuss the situation around gas pipelines with German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Dmitry Kuleba said.
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called media publications about a certain “pro-Ukrainian group” allegedly involved in explosions at two Nord Stream offshore gas pipelines a coordinated action. He said this in an interview for Bild am Sonntag, published on Sunday, March 12.
“When three newspapers publish articles on the same topic in two days, it is a coordinated action. They emphasize different aspects, but none of them claims that the Ukrainian government is behind it or that it is known to everyone,” Kuleba said.
He noted that allegations that Ukraine is somehow connected to it are damaging.
“It’s one thing that you publish, and another thing is exactly how people will remember it. I’m afraid that many will remember that Ukraine is somehow connected with it,” complained Kuleba.
Asked if he discussed this aspect with the German government, the minister said: “Not yet, but we are waiting for conversations with Annalena Burbock and Secretary of State Blinken about this and other issues. We must wait for the official which is the result of the investigation. What is happening now, – a kind of labeling.”
Kuleba again denied allegations that the Ukrainian government was involved in the Nord Stream explosions.
“I can say that the Ukrainian government is not behind it. This is not an action of the government,” the head of the Foreign Ministry concluded.
Recall that articles recently appeared about the possible involvement of a “pro-Ukrainian group” in the explosions in the Nord Streams in the Baltic Sea in September 2022. They were published by the New York Times, Die Zeit and the Washington Post.
In this regard, President Volodymyr Zelensky explained why they are trying to accuse Ukraine of weakening the Nord Streams.
