In Prague, pro-Russian demonstrators on Saturday, March 11, tried to break into the National Museum and tear down the Ukrainian flag. As a result, the police detained 18 people, according to Novinky.cz.
Before that, thousands of people gathered in Wenceslas Square for the “Czech Republic Against Poverty” action with anti-government slogans and calls for the government to resign.
According to the newspaper, police detained a man with a “Wagner” patch and a Russian “Z” swastika.
When the demonstration ended, part of the protesters went to the National Museum, where they tried to enter it. At the same time, some participants tried to remove the Ukrainian flag from the building.
The police intervened, pushing the demonstrators back. Two police officers were injured and taken to the hospital.
Around 19:00 the situation calmed down, the protesters dispersed.
Opponents of the demonstration gathered separately, calling for the unity of the Czech Republic and support for Ukraine.
