Jerry Jure81 year old man he survived a week stuck in his car under the snow in California, USA. February 24 last year Jure drove an hour and a half from his house. on a mountain in Big Pine when he happened to be on a shorter route and his truck got stuck in a block of snow.
The trip was originally supposed to last four hours, but when he was trapped, he did not fall into despair, put into practice what they have learned survivor, series he watched with his wife. With a light jacket, a thin quilt and a towel, he was able to maintain his body temperature and survive for nearly a week.
To support himself, the 81-year-old man, who is also a former NASA employee, ate nothing but the cookies and croissants he had with him.
“everything was a miracle (…). It seemed unbelievable to us that a man who had done so much in his life would get stuck in his car and die of hypothermia,” said his grandson Christian Jure. BBC.
How to survive buried under the snow?
Once buried under the snow, Jerry Jouret turned to his mathematical knowledge and managed to get the car battery to work for about three and a half days. In order not to get completely dehydrated, I rolled down the car window and caught the snow.
“He managed to survive thanks to snow, croissant and biscotti.his grandson said.
However, the battery ran out when Jerry tried to raise the windows of the car, which left him in an even more vulnerable position, especially since the temperature had reached several degrees below zero.
“I thought that she must be very scared that this is the end of her days,” Christian added.
Six days later, under such conditions, despite the fact that other pilots of the aircraft mistook his car for a stone, a helicopter approached the point where Jerry was. As soon as they managed to save him, he was immediately taken to the hospital, where the nurses themselves were surprised to find him with completely normal vital signs and lags without hypothermia.
“I cried a lot. I did not understand how much we take the presence of people in our lives for granted, ”added his grandson.
The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office said the helicopter spotted a vehicle stuck in the snow seconds after tracking a cell phone signal in the area.
“When the brigade approached for inspection, the window was lowered and the man started waving from inside the vehicle”, – explained in a press release.
