The puppet court of Russia threw three Ukrainian prisoners of war behind bars for a total of 40 years. In particular, the court of the terrorist LPR gave 13 years in prison to the Ukrainian prisoner of war, human rights activist and founder of the Public Radio Maxim Butkevich. According to Mediazona, the invaders found him guilty of alleged “war crimes”.
The human rights activist joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in early March 2022. On June 24, Russian propagandists reported that he had been taken prisoner in the area of the occupied settlements of Zolote and Gorne in the Luhansk region.
In addition, Russian puppet courts sentenced two more Ukrainian prisoners of war, Viktor Pokhozey and Vladislav Shel, to imprisonment. The first received 8.5 years in prison, the second – 18.5 years. The Investigative Committee of Russia calls Shel a fighter of the Azov regiment.
