On March 9, they said goodbye to Hero of Ukraine Dmitry Kotsyubail in the small homeland of the deceased legendary Ukrainian military man – in the village of Bovshev, Ivano-Frankivsk region.
The locals came to pay their respects to Dmitry in the house of culture, after that – in the church.
Hero of Ukraine Dmitry Kotsyubaylo “Da Vinci” will be buried on March 10 in Kyiv. This was announced by the brother of the deceased battalion commander Vadim Kotsyubaylo.
At 12.00 the coffin with the body of the fallen soldier will be in St. Michael’s Cathedral, from 13.15 – on Independence Square.
What is known about Da Vinci
On March 7, in the battle near Bakhmut, the Hero of Ukraine, the battalion commander of the 67th mechanized brigade, Dmitry Kotsyubaylo, also known under the call sign Da Vinci, died.
The Carpathian volunteered, barely reaching adulthood, immediately after the events on the Maidan.
Dmitry went through the hot spots of the war with the Russians as part of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps “Right Sector”. He led the Da Vinci Wolves assault unit, which grew from a company to a battalion. Kotsyubaylo is the first volunteer who was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order of the Golden Star in 2021 during his lifetime. At that time he was 26 years old.
On the eve of Independence Day last year, the head of the defense department Oleksiy Reznikov awarded the legendary Hero of Ukraine, Sergeant Dmitry Kotsyubaylo, with the primary military rank of the officers “junior lieutenant” and handed over a shoulder strap.
In 2022, he was included in the rating “30 under 30: the face of the future” from Forbes.
Dmitry Kotsyubaylo also met his love in the war. A volunteer from the Hospitallers, Alina Mikhailova, offered to help his company with medicines. Since then they have been together.
