The Times says NATO allegedly wants to prevent Ukraine from publicly arguing with Germany over the incident.
Western intelligence has “known for months” the name of a private sponsor from Ukraine who allegedly financed a diversion of Russian gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea. However, they deliberately decided not to reveal it in order to protect Ukraine. It was reported in its material by the British edition of The Times on Wednesday, March 8.
A week after the Nord Stream explosions, employees of an unnamed Scandinavian delegation in Brussels received intelligence information that neither the Americans, Russians nor Poles were behind the explosions, but a private initiative from Ukraine , the media said.
Diplomats were told that this information would not be made public.
The private sponsor of the sabotage is a Ukrainian, he is not related to the government of President Zelensky, the publication stated. The name of this possible sponsor is not called.
“Apparently, NATO officials want to keep Ukraine away from a public confrontation with Germany, which has stopped for the delivery of important military aid, including Leopard 2 tanks and IRIS-T air defense systems . It’s fair – they seem to know who is responsible, even then. the presidential administration or the Ministry of Defense in Kiev, which was surprised by the report and stubbornly denied their involvement,” the publication said.
The British newspaper stated that the complex operation included the participation of a yacht, elite divers, fake passports and the purchase of shaped explosive charges, which can only be used in the gas and oil industry in under a special license and at great expense.
“His name will definitely appear, especially considering that he left some kind of business card,” – said the publication.
As previously reported, The New York Times, citing US intelligence, reported that an unknown “pro-Ukrainian group” was likely behind the Nord Stream sabotage. In response, the Office of the President said that Ukraine had nothing to do with the Nord Streams accident in the Baltic Sea.
The media, citing their sources, said earlier that Russia decided to mothball the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, as there was no plan to repair and use them.
