The court did not arrest any accounts of the suspect in this criminal case, the anti-corruption officials assured.
The former chairman of the board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, Andriy Kobolev, on Tuesday, failed to make bail of 229 million hryvnias in the abuse of office case. This was reported by the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) on March 7.
“On March 1, 2023, the VAKS Chamber of Appeal applied a preventive measure in the form of bail in the amount of UAH 229.248 million to the former chairman of the board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine. According to the court’s decision, the suspect must deposit money within five days from the moment the decision was announced, that is, until 06.03. 2023, and undertook to report it to the detective/prosecutor,” the message stated.
At the same time, it was noted that as of March 7, the pre-trial investigation body has not yet received information about bail in the amount established by the court.
“Contrary to the information disseminated in some media, to date, the court has not arrested any of the accounts of the suspect in this criminal trial. Also, so far there are no initiatives on the part of NABU and SAPO to block the account of the suspect to prevent him from using his financial assets,” – added anti-corruption.
Remember, on January 19, Kobolev was notified of the suspicion of abuse of his official position while securing for himself the payment of bonuses for 229 million hryvnias for the company’s victory in the Stockholm Arbitration with Russian Gazprom.
According to the investigation, this amount far exceeds the normatively defined amounts of such payments (UAH 37.48 million).
At the same time, VAKS refused the prosecutor to elect Kobolev a measure of restraint in the form of detention with an alternative bail of 365 million. SAP then sent a complaint against the court’s decision to the Appeals Chamber of VAKS.
