President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk to the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander after he became the first deputy in the Defense Ministry.
This is stated in decree No. 129/2023 of March 6.
Pavlyuk is 52 years old. He is a professional soldier. He graduated from the Kharkov Guards Higher Tank Command School (1991) and the Ivan Chernyakhovsky National Defense University of Ukraine (2004, 2017).
He commanded the 24th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the troops of the operational command “West”, the Joint Forces Operation (July 2021 – March 2022).
Pavlyuk led the defense of Kyiv from the invaders in the spring of 2022, later he was the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration during the defense of Kyiv (March-May 2022).
On February 14, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed him first deputy defense minister.
President Zelensky awarded Pavlyuk the title of Hero of Ukraine on March 4, 2022.
