During the negotiations with Rafael Grossi, it was decided that the agency’s technical delegation will go to Tehran, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said.
The visit of the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi to Tehran opened a new chapter in the bilateral cooperation between Iran and the IAEA. This was said on March 6 by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani, ISNA reports.
“Following Grossi’s recent visit to Tehran, a new chapter has opened in bilateral cooperation between Iran and the IAEA. Considering Grossi’s visit to Tehran and the high-level talks held, as well also the agreements between the Agency and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, it is hoped that the meeting process The Governing Council will be held without politicization,” said the diplomat.
He added that following the results of the meeting, it was decided that the technical delegation of the IAEA will go to Tehran.
To recall, Grossi arrived in Tehran on March 3 and during his stay in the capital of Iran held two rounds of negotiations with the head of the country’s Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI), Mohammad Eslami, and also met with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian .
On Saturday, the head of the agency spoke with the President of the Republic, Ebrahim Raisi.
A joint statement issued by the IAEA and the AEOI following the visit said Iran would allow the agency to carry out verification and monitoring activities, and was also willing to provide access to three nuclear facilities.
It is implied that the parties agreed to communicate based on the “rights and obligations” of the republic and the competence of the agency.
