Germany intends to support Ukraine in the war with the Russian Federation as long as Kyiv needs it.
Germany became Ukraine’s largest donor in continental Europe after the start of a large-scale invasion by the Russian Federation. This was announced on Sunday, March 5, by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on CNN.
“We are providing Ukraine with weapons and the necessary financial aid. We have become Ukraine’s largest donor in continental Europe,” he said.
According to Scholz, Germany plans to provide various assistance to Ukraine “as long as necessary.”
He also emphasized that last year, in one way or another, Europe gave Ukraine 14 billion euros of aid.
Earlier, Scholz said that Germany and its allies will help Ukraine achieve peace. However, the chancellor is skeptical about the chances of a quick settlement of the war through negotiations with the Russian Federation.
Notably, Scholz mentioned that Germany trained three thousand fighters for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
