China has a choice if it wants to help Russia kill Ukrainians, a White House spokesman said.
China, considering the issue of supplying arms to the Russian Federation, has to decide whether it really wants to side with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This is what the coordinator for strategic communications of the US National Security Council, John Kirby, said in an interview with the Voice of America.
“China has a choice. President Xi Jinping has a choice. And we urged him to make the right choice, not to make it easy for Mr. Putin to kill innocent Ukrainians,” he said.
Because, as Kirby emphasized, this is what such a move would look like to transfer weapons to the aggressor country.
“And if China cares about its international reputation, it can be assumed that this decision will be considered not in their interests,” he said.
The White House urged Beijing to make the right choice in this regard.
“China must make a choice. Leader Xi Jinping must make a choice. And we urge him to make the right choice and not make it easy to kill innocent Ukrainians,” Kirby added.
