The European Parliament hopes that negotiations on the accession of Ukraine to the EU will begin as soon as possible – this year. This is what the President of the European Parliament (EP) Roberta Metsola said in a conversation with journalists in Lviv on Saturday, March 4.
“When we say that Ukraine is Europe, and Europe is Ukraine, it means that accession negotiations should start as soon as possible. And that means, I hope, that this year,” the official said .
According to him, he was very impressed with “the progress made by Ukraine regarding the recommendations of the European Commission.”
Metsola believes that the EU should also match this pace of development.
As previously reported, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution on the self-audit of Ukrainian legislation for its compliance with European standards.
