Minsk says that last year it allegedly increased the supply of dairy products to Poland and other EU countries.
Belarus reportedly increased exports of dairy products to European countries last year despite economic restrictions by Western countries. This was stated by the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, Sergei Fedchenko, the pro-government Belarusian news agency BelTA reported on Friday, March 3.
He claims that the supply of such goods in Poland has increased one and a half times.
“I note that despite the sanctions, Belarus did not reduce the export of dairy products either to Russia or to the countries of Western Europe. On the contrary, we increased exports by one and a half times in Poland and other EU countries,” assured the representative of the ruling regime of Belarus.
According to the official, “there are 1,500 farms with the latest equipment” in the country, and the sanctions seem to have “not added problems,” therefore, if necessary, it is “quite possible to replace the imported equipment to the Belarusians.”
“Currently, milk production in the country has grown by 5% compared to 2022. I am sure that we will continue to increase this production, as well as the export of dairy products outside Belarus,” said Fedchenko.
The official ensures that the export of agricultural products for 2022 will reach $8.3 billion, an increase of almost 30%.
Recall that the European Union has extended sanctions against the formal leader of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and his entourage. The restrictions will remain in effect until the end of February 2024.
In addition, Lukashenko said that despite the sanctions, Belarus, together with Russia, produces various types of weapons and sells them to 57 countries.
