The weather affects the defense of the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region, by the Ukrainian military.
Until the end of March, due to warming in the area, it will be difficult to use heavy armored vehicles. Rising temperatures will make it harder to cross the terrain through mud, known in Ukrainian as “off-road”. This is stated in the new report of the UK Department of Defense for March 2, published on Twitter.
Intelligence notes that daily soil temperatures have risen and are now mostly above 0° Celsius. Night frosts and daytime temperature rises remain likely until next week. And in the spring, even warmer conditions will lead to a further deterioration in the conditions of movement in the middle terrain.
British experts believe that such weather conditions will add additional problems to ground operations and complicate the movement of heavier armored vehicles, especially in the middle terrain around Bakhmut.
Recall that the Armed Forces of Ukraine assured that the defenders would not leave Bakhmut. However, the military emphasized that retreat is possible “if we see that the threat to our personnel and our operational situation is greater than the need to hold territory.”
