Canada continues to provide Ukraine with the comprehensive military assistance it needs to defend its territory and people from Russian aggression.
Since the beginning of Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine, Canada has provided the Ukrainians with more than 3,000 tons of military aid. This was announced on Wednesday, March 1, by Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand, writes Ukrinform.
“We have transferred more than $1 billion worth of military aid, and our Canadian troops have transported more than 7 million pounds (3.2 thousand tons – ed.) of military aid intended for Ukraine,” he said.
Anand noted that Canada is bringing military aid from its base in Scotland, where three Canadian cargo planes and about 60 troops are based.
“From there, the Canadian Air Force brings military assistance to Ukraine, provided not only by Canada, but also by other NATO allies,” the minister said.
He also noted that Canada has trained 35,000 Ukrainian soldiers as part of Operation UNIFIER.
Canada announced on February 24 that it would give Ukraine $32 million in additional security assistance.
Earlier, Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand said that the Leopard 2 tanks that Canada is transferring to Ukraine are already in Poland.
