It is expected that the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will present a corresponding initiative to EU members on Thursday, March 2, as part of a plan for military aid to Ukraine.
According to journalists, the plan to increase the production of weapons in the EU, which will be presented by Ursula von der Leyen, consists of three parts.
The first important aspect is the increase in the production and supply of 155-mm artillery shells in Ukraine – the EU plans to cover the costs of the European Peace Fund (EPF).
The second part provides for the provision of the EU’s own stockpile of 155 mm projectiles in cooperation with the European Defense Agency EDA.
The third component is the long-term development of European ammunition production capacities, which will be adapted depending on the current security situation in the region.
