Lithuanian deputies unanimously identified the actions of Russian military personnel in Ukraine as genocide.
The Kremlin seeks to destroy the Ukrainian nation, so such actions should be recognized as genocide, and Russia is a state that supports and commits terrorism. This is stated in the text of the resolution, which was unanimously adopted by the Seimas of Lithuania, according to the website of Parliament on Tuesday, May 10.

The document states that the armed forces of the Russian Federation and mercenaries have committed massive war crimes on the territory of Ukraine, especially in the cities of Bucha, Irpin, Mariupol, Borodianka and Gostomel. These actions are seen as the goal of complete or partial destruction of the Ukrainian nation, its spirit by killing its members of the whole family, including children, kidnapping them, torture, rape, including minors aged, mockery of the bodies of the murdered and tortured.
“The Seimas of Lithuania recognize the widespread armed aggression against Ukraine by the armed forces of the Russian Federation and its political and military leadership, which began on February 24, 2022, as genocide of Ukrainian citizens,” the resolution said.
Emphasizes that all those responsible must be brought to justice, and the international community must establish a Special International Criminal Tribunal to investigate and evaluate Russia’s aggression against sovereign Ukraine.
The Lithuanian Seimas calls for this tribunal to have the power to issue international warrants of arrest and immunity should not be limited to the immunity of the state or heads of state and government and other public officials.
“The Russian Federation, whose armed forces deliberately and systematically select civilian targets for bombing, is a state that supports and commits terrorism,” the resolution said.
Remember. Last week, the Verkhovna Rada asked the United States to recognize the Russian Federation as a sponsor of terrorism. Parliament supported the appeal to the House of Representatives and the Senate of the U.S. Congress.
U.S. State Department chief Anthony Blinken said the United States was studying the possibility of including Russia on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
