Assistance may be requested if the gas supply is insufficient to meet the needs of customers in the residential and heating regions of the district.
Estonia and Finland have signed an agreement on security of gas supplies. The document assumes mutual assistance of the countries in case the gas supply is cut off. This was reported by ERR.
It noted that assistance could be sought if the gas supply was insufficient to meet the needs of residential consumers and district heating regions of critical importance.
“In light of the changed security situation, it makes sense for neighboring countries to work more closely to ensure the security of gas supplies, as we are also operating in a common market. In addition to the LNG terminal project, we have now agreed with Finland that we will also be available to each other in an emergency and will assist in providing gas to overseas consumers, if necessary and possible, ”said Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Taavi Aas.
In February, Estonia signed a similar agreement with Latvia.
Finland was previously reported to be ready to quickly abandon gas and oil from the Russian Federation.
