Canada imposes new sanctions on Iran

Twelve members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps were punished by Ottawa for human rights violations.

Canadian authorities have imposed sanctions against 12 members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for human rights violations. This was reported on the website of the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Today’s sanctions list includes 12 high-ranking IRGC and law enforcement officials who have been involved in gross and systematic human rights violations in Iran,” the statement said.

It will be recalled that earlier, due to the brutal suppression of protests in Iran, the European Union approved a new package of personal sanctions against Iran, the reason being many human rights violations as part of the protests that continue in the country from in September 2022.

And the United States has imposed sanctions against companies that sell Iranian oil.
