During the performance of a combat mission on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, a Ukrainian soldier was killed. The incident took place on the night of February 25th.
The Telegram channel Donbass Operational, citing data from military sources, reported that the fire was allegedly opened by unknown people from the territory of Belarus. The territory near the village of Tur, Kovelsky district of the Volyn region, is under shelling, and it is only one kilometer from the Belarusian border.
In response, our military also opened fire. In particular, it is the 100th Territorial Defense Brigade. As a result of the battle, one Ukrainian soldier was killed. It turned out to be a resident of the Kovel district, Sergei Panasyuk, born in 1989.

The State Border Committee of Belarus has called out false information about the alleged shootout on the Ukrainian border on February 25.
“… the information has nothing to do with the truth. There were no actions with the use of weapons, the border patrols did not fire,” said the message published on the Telegram channel of the Belarusian department.

The spokesman of the 100th territorial defense brigade, Sergei Khominsky, partially confirmed the media information about this tragedy. According to him, on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border on February 25, while conducting a combat mission, the 33-year-old soldier of the Volyn Terrorist Defense, Serhiy Panasyuk, actually died. The incident took place at an observation post near the village of Tur, almost on the border with Belarus.

But Khominsky did not confirm the information that the shots were fired from the Belarusian side. According to him, all the circumstances of the incident are now being investigated.
“The investigation is being conducted by law enforcement agencies, and an official investigation is also being conducted by the relevant divisions of the brigade,” said a representative of the TRO brigade.
Khominsky’s statement was also supported by the local police. According to the inspector of the communication sector of the National Police of the Volyn region, Marina Baldych, information on the death of the military Panasyuk is included in the ERDR under the article “planned murder”.
“It is definitely known that the shots were not from Belarus. The details will be clarified during the ongoing pre-trial investigation,” he added.
Note that Sergei Panasyuk is an ATO participant. He joins the ranks of the terrorist defense in the first days of a massive attack. He is a rifle platoon leader. He is survived by a daughter and a son.
