After February 24 last year, four men agreed to work for the Russian occupiers in the local “SIZO”.
The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the State Bureau of Investigation, detained former heads of Russian torture facilities that operated during the occupation of Kherson. This was reported by the SBU press service on Monday, February 27.
It was noted that among those detained was the former deputy head of the local correctional colony, who supported the Russian invaders during the temporary occupation of the city.
After the seizure of the prison, he willingly agreed to cooperate with the Russians and agreed to join the leadership of the “department of penitentiary service in the Kherson region” created by them.
“While in office, he organized the illegal detention of abducted Ukrainians in the cells of a Russian prison. In the torture chamber, psychological pressure, torture and the threat of killing the victims were used. So, those tried occupiers to follow the Kremlin’s instructions to suppress the resistance movement in the region,” the report said. .
Another collaborator became the head of the “department of communal, commissary and economic support” of the former Russian prison. The attacker is responsible for the food supply in the administration of the occupying body, the SBU noted.
Also imprisoned is a former worker of the Kherson pre-trial detention center, who, after February 24, 2022, agreed to the Russians’ proposal to join the “security department of the colony.” There, he, along with another exposed colleague, participated in punitive raids against local residents who resisted the invaders.
All four defendants were charged with suspicion of high treason and collaboration activities. They face 12 to 15 years in prison. The three detainees have been jailed. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
It will be remembered that earlier in Kupyansk, Kharkiv region, an “expert” of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs was detained. In addition, the SBU detained an advertiser of Russian “referendums” in Kherson.
