Borrell noted that it is necessary to achieve peace, relying on the resolution of the UN General Assembly and the peace plan of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky
China’s proposals to end the Russian war in Ukraine are not a “peace plan” and put the aggressor and the victim on the same level. This was stated by the head of diplomacy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, in his blog on the website of the European External Action Service.
“China presented its ‘position document’ on a political settlement. It is not a peace plan and basically repeats well-known Chinese positions, some of which we share and some of which we don’t. Of course, we will review it, but it is clear that the key problem is that it does not distinguish between the aggressor and the victim, which puts the parties on an equal footing,” said Borrell.
According to him, it is necessary to achieve peace, based on the resolution of the UN General Assembly and the peace plan of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“The Russian war and tensions between China and the US are destroying what we often refer to as the ‘rules-based international order. But at the same time, most countries still hope that the UN will find a solution,” said the head of European diplomacy.
It can be recalled that China recently published its own version of the “peace plan” to resolve the war on the territory of Ukraine.
As reported, the head of the office of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee’s Foreign Affairs Commission, Wang Yi, asked EU diplomacy chief Josep Borrell during an informal conversation in Munich why it should not Beijing provides weapons to Moscow, while the EU provides Kiev.
