The State Bureau of Investigation exposed a scheme at Lviv customs for illegal import of goods worth millions of hryvnias.
Employees of the State Bureau stopped the illegal method of importing consumer goods into the territory of Ukraine through “empty trucks”, the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation reported on Monday, February 27.
In particular, the employees of the State Bureau of Investigation reported suspicion to the state inspector of the Yavoriv customs post of the Lviv customs, who helped traders to avoid paying mandatory payments to the budget for more in one million hryvnias.
The officer let a truck into Ukrainian territory, containing household goods, leather goods, heating boilers, branded clothes and children’s toys.
“The official hid the true contents of the cargo and registered the car as empty. Therefore, the state budget did not receive more than 1.1 million hryvnias of customs payments,” the report said.
The customs post inspector was notified of suspicion of abuse of office and official forgery. He faces up to five years in prison.
It will be remembered that earlier in Odessa, the head of the customs laboratory was caught taking a bribe. The SBU and the SBI eliminated the Zhytomyr customs corruption scheme.
