The Russian political scientist, publicist and political strategist Gleb Pavlovsky has passed away at the age of 72. This was reported by Vedomosti in connection with the information of the head of the department of local self-government of the Higher School of Economics, Simon Kordonsky.
Information about the death of the political scientist was confirmed on Facebook by gallery owner Marat Gelman, who worked with Pavlovsky at the Effective Policy Foundation.
The cause of death has not been officially announced at this time.
Gleb Pavlovsky was born in Odessa in the family of a civil engineer. From December 1985 he lived in Moscow, was one of the founders of the first legal political opposition organization in Russia – the Club of Social Initiatives (CSI). Later he participated in the creation of the Moscow People’s Front.
He founded the Effective Policy Foundation, which developed Vladimir Putin’s 2000 presidential campaign. Pavlovsky also acted as a consultant to the presidential administration of the Russian Federation until 2011.
In addition, he participated in the presidential campaign of Viktor Yanukovych during the 2004 elections in Ukraine.
Since 2011, he has joined the political opposition.
