The number of victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria exceeded 50 thousand

The death toll from the earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria in early February has exceeded 50,000, Aljazeera reports.

In Turkey, the natural disaster killed 44,218 people, while the death toll in Syria was 5,914.

More than 200,000 rescuers continue to clear rubble in 11 earthquake-affected provinces in Turkey. At the same time, the construction of houses for victims in the country has begun.

Remember, on February 6, strong earthquakes of magnitude 7.8 occurred in southeastern Turkey and northern Syria. Since then, more than 9,000 aftershocks have occurred in the region. As a result of repeated strong earthquakes on February 20 in Turkey, six people died and almost 300 were injured.

On February 25, an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 struck central Turkey.
