The EU plans to hold a video conference to strengthen regional cooperation in the field of oil infrastructure.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced “progress” in negotiations with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on the imposition of sanctions against the Russian Federation. On Monday, May 9, he announced the Twitterinforming about the results of his visit to Hungary.
“An evening discussion with Prime Minister Viktor Orban helped clarify issues related to sanctions and energy security,” von der Leyen wrote.
According to the head of the European Commission, he has made progress in negotiations with Orban on a possible Russian oil embargo across the EU.
“We have made progress, but we need more work,” she added.
Von der Leyen added that he was calling for a venture with regional players to strengthen regional cooperation “on oil infrastructure.”
Earlier, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjarto said Hungary’s position on the issue of Russia’s oil embargo remains inevitable, despite lengthy negotiations within the EU.
